On 11 April 2024 (14:00-15:00 CEST), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) and the Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED), supported by the International Labour Organization (ILO), are jointly hosted the webinar on Greening SMEs towards a Just Transition from Policies to Practice.
This fourth webinar of a series looked at good practices and lessons learned regarding the implementation of policies and support services that promote environmental sustainability and decent work among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Given that SMEs employ the majority of the global workforce, they play a critical role in limiting job losses and optimizing employment gains in the transition to a green and circular economy.
Delving into concrete examples of the implementation of policies and support services for SMEs in Indonesia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan and Mauritius, the webinar shed light on what works to empower SMEs to mitigate climate risks and seize new green opportunities with a view to creating more and better jobs. The webinar included several presentations, a moderated panel discussion and a Q&A session.
